For the October edition of the Heavenly Films night we are hosting something very special indeed. The first London screening since 2009 of Kieran Evans’ acclaimed documentary about Folk legend Vashti Bunyan.
Vashti’s story of exploitation, resignation, exile and rediscovery is one of this century’s most enduring musical legends.
BAFTA winner Kieran Evans’ gorgeously shot, achingly intimate portrait retraces Bunyan’s infamous voyage by gyspy caravan, from Inner London to the Outer Hebrides, during which she wrote her stunning, commercially disastrous 1970 album ‘Just Another Diamond Day’.
The film explores a slice of Bunyan’s life in loving detail, pausing only to wonder at the enduring charm and mystery of this prodigious, prodigal talent.
The screening will be followed by a rare Q&A session with Vashti hosted by Travis Elborough.
