We can’t wait to set up shop and get the mulled wine flowing for The Social Christmas Market once again! As always, the market is a great chance for us to reflect on another busy year, and we’ll have each and every one of our 2018 LP releases for sale.
We started our year out with Anna Burch’s ‘invigorating, tightly structured pop,’ the debut LP from Halifax’s finest The Orielles, HALO MAUD’s ‘unexpected gem’ of a debut, ‘ageless and accessible pop’ in the Cornish language from Gwenno, Confidence Man’s infinitely danceable debut ‘that instantly feels like a greatest hits set’ and the physical release of the final of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s five(!!!) 2017 releases.
The pace didn’t let up for the remainder of the year however, elsewhere we had Mattiel’s ‘mix of raucous garage punk and rock’n’roll soul,’ a blissful album of summer vibes from 77:78 (featuring members of The Bees), the return of Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood’s dark duo, a gorgeous love letter to a fracturing Europe from Amber Arcades and the recent Welsh Music Prize winner 1,2 Kung Fu by Cardiff’s Boy Azooga. Rounding off the year we had Hatchie‘s infectious dream-pop Sugar & Spice EP, stone cold, avant garde party bangers from audiobooks, neo-kawaii post punk fun from CHAI and a brand new collaboration from Baxter Dury, Etienne de Crécyand Delilah Holliday.
We really feel we’ve got plenty to be proud of in 2018, and if you missed anything then the Social Christmas Market is the perfect place to come and get acquainted. We’ll also have plenty of other goodies and merch, including toasty sweatshirts to get you through the winter.
Come and say hi!
